Who are we hiring?

The NY Rangers Full-Stack Software Engineer will develop tools, web applications, and data infrastructure. The role will partner with departments within Hockey Operations (e.g., Scouting, Strategy) to identify, design, and implement products to drive insights and support decision making. Candidates should have 2+ years of full-stack development experience building web applications using SQL, REST services and JavaScript frameworks.

What will you do?

  • Design and implement tools and web-based applications for hockey operations.
  • Oversee and execute projects through entire software development lifecycle.
  • Interface with hockey operations departments (e.g., strategy, scouting) to build visualizations, tools, and reporting capabilities to meet their needs.
  • Enjoy being a generalist working on both the front-end, backend, and doing anything it takes to solve problems and deliver what users need.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in the following:
    • SQL
    • C#, Python, Node, Java, or JavaScript
    • CSS frameworks (Bootstrap, Material)
    • Relational databases
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills – must be able to breakdown complex tasks and craft an execution strategy with little guidance.
  • Knowledge of hockey is a preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and collectively as part of the team.
  • Ability to work off hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
    • Experience with product design, UI/UX design
    • Experience with data quality and validation.

Special Requirements

  • Ability to work in elite sport environment and outside of standard working hours if required.
  • Role is currently remote with the potential to be on-site if required.
