Meet the Team

The Product Test Engineering (PTE) team is responsible for multiple critical aspects of developing new products and bringing them to market.

  • Hardware and software automated test development for wireless MCU chips in a production test environment.
  • Device characterization testing to ensure datasheet accuracy.
  • Device qualification testing to ensure device reliability.
  • Production tests program release to ensure products meet quality and cost target.

Responsibilities

The Principal Product Test Engineer would be a leader on Silicon Lab’s Wi-Fi Product Test Engineering Team. The Wi-Fi product line is a new and high growth potential product category for Silicon Labs.

  • Lead product and test development of high speed and mixed signal ICs from the pre-silicon stage through manufacturing release.
  • Develop test solutions used in design validation and mass production.
  • Solve problems on yield improvement, interface with customers on quality assurance, and implement cost reduction efforts.
  • Develop test plans and provide input to the design team so that ICs are designed with the necessary test access and capabilities.
  • Develop hardware and software for device calibration, characterization, and production test on automated test equipment (ATE).
  • Perform characterization and reliability qualification of new designs and provide statistical analysis of results.
  • Design and develop hardware and software for stress tests in product qualification.
  • Meet schedules for prototype evaluation, characterization, qualification, and production release.
  • Work on developing high speed and mixed-signal ICs.
  • These ICs include microcontrollers and non-volatile memory, RF circuitry, sensors, data converters (ADC and DAC), LDOs, phase-locked loops, DC-DC converters, and other analog/mixed-signal circuitry.
  • Work with Design, Firmware, and Validation teams to root cause complex performance and functional issues.

Skills You Will Need

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in mixed signal Test and Measurement Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals and methodologies under an IC environment.
  • Experience with software development including C/C++, Python or other HLL, or scripting like Visual Basic, PERL.
  • Experience with embedded systems and firmware development.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug mixed-signal systems, circuits, and devices · Ability to work with design, validation, marketing, and quality teams to help develop products from design to production.

The following qualifications will be considered a plus:

  • Experience with ATE platforms such as Advantest 93k, Cohu Diamondx, Teradyne J750 or IFlex.
  • Experience with RF circuits and measurements using Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers, and Power meters.
  • Working knowledge of signal integrity issues, simulations, and solutions.
  • Understanding of the qualification and characterization requirements for integrated circuits.
  • Familiarity with quality procedures and documentation.
  • Schematic capture and PCB design skills.
  • Proficiency of statistical data analysis and process control.
