Alaska Overview

ConocoPhillips is Alaska’s largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1.2 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2022. The company produced an average of 200 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2022. ConocoPhillips has major ownership interests in two of North America’s largest legacy conventional oil fields, both located on Alaska’s North Slope: Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips operates several fields on the Western North Slope. The company has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.

Description

If you are selected as the Alaska Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), you will be responsible for providing human resources consultation and support to our North Slope Operations and supporting key HR initiatives and priorities. This includes travel to our remote work sites on the North Slope.

In this role you will need to understand the objectives and challenges of our leaders, while providing people management solutions and technical expertise to support the continuous improvement of HR. You will utilize collaboration and leadership skills to identify and address HR issues/processes, establish effective solutions, and implement correlating actions. You will also be accountable for all HRBP functions, contributing independently within the HRBP network and working as an integral team member with the Alaska HR team.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Driving implementation of core business staffing plans
  • Support complex change management processes driven by the implementation of Workday, working flexibly with our CoEs and implementation teams
  • Developing creative solutions to various problems and advising businesses accordingly
  • Acting as thinking partner/coach for business leadership on various HR issues & processes impacting the strategic and long-range business plans
  • Ensuring processes are consistent while maintaining client relationships through understanding their strategies and business operations
  • Advising on HR issues regarding staffing, compensation, performance management, retention, employee relations/complaints, talent and succession management
  • Advising with the COEs (Centers of Excellence) and Shared Services teams, and implementing policies/programs while providing feedback on issues impacting the business (e.g. compensation, recruiting, employee relations, talent management)
  • Participating on special projects related to delivering the strategic needs of the business

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in human resources or business-related field or foreign equivalent
  • 5+ years of human resources experience
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to spend up to 30% (including some weekends) on the North Slope

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or higher in HR Management or related discipline or foreign equivalent
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or (Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certifications
  • 3+ years broad HR technical expertise and experience in compensation and benefits, employee development, recruiting/staffing, EEO/AAP
  • 1+ years experience with HR investigations, SAP, hourly policy/pay administration
  • 1+ years experience with Workday
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft software applications
  • Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Results oriented, both individually and for a team; demonstrable ability to deliver key results on stretch goals
  • Able to evaluate short and long range needs of business
  • Customer focus-relates well with employees at all levels
